Breast Surgery

Benign and Malignant Breast Disease

There are a wide variety of benign and malignant breast diseases that may require surgery. Some of these breast conditions may be detected by your or your physician during a physical examination. Other conditions cannot be felt, rather they are detected on surveillance ultrasounds or mammograms. If any suspicious breast findings are noted, you will most likely need a biopsy to sample the tissue. If your biopsy results are concerning for cancer, or for a pre-cancerous lesion, you will be referred to a surgeon for breast surgery. Whether part of your breast, or your entire breast, is removed depends on what condition you have and what your treatment preferences are. Dr. Madni will have a thorough conversation with you about your biopsy results and your treatment options. Together, the two of you will create a management plan that is best for you.
